There are so many projects that can be completed thanks to greenhouse gardening. And Home Aquaponics is, in my opinion, one of the more exciting.
I liked the idea of Hydroponics, but the more I learned about it the less I liked having to use of chemicals to grow.
Along with the fact that you periodically had to dispose of these growing chemicals was also a deter ant.
However, Aquaponics uses a hydroponic system, and instead of chemicals, it actually uses naturally sustainable fish waste as nutrients instead of the chemical fertilizers.
These nutrients are filtered through the plants which works as a water filter for the fish, it is set up as a true ecosystem.
Take a look at this system put together at Malyspina College on Vancouver Island.
They used Travis Hughey's Barrel-ponics system. We have included his E-book Instruction plans with pictures below.
