Choosing a Greenhouse Design
If you are looking to build a greenhouse, choosing a Greenhouse design may be a daunting task.If you have taken a look around you are sure to already know that there are a lot available.
Each design is suited to a preference or the use that it will be used for, so planning ahead is always recommended.
How much space do you have to locate your greenhouse?
Bigger is better when it comes to greenhouses, and many of the designs available can not be added onto very easily (a Hoop House is a good option if you would like to add to the size later on down the road.
Also, many of the designs use different greenhouse glazing to cover.
The glazing or greenhouse covering is the most important part of the greenhouse, so it is important to know a bit about the different options available for glazing as well.

Geodesic Dome greenhouse Design
The Geodesic Dome greenhouse is a very interesting and strong greenhouse design. Not easily added to if you would like to expand. But they are strong and stand up to the elements well.
Hoop House, High Tunnel or Poly Tunnel
- this is absolutely my favorite design, and yes, I am biased to the hoop house.
If you are looking for a greenhouse to grow vegetables year round (without the need to heat it with an electricalor gas powered heater) they are the ultimate choice).

Wood greenhouse
Cedar is one of the best materials that can be used as it is not chemically treated. Pressure Treated lumber will not rot in the moist environment of a greenhouse, but they are chemically treated and are not always the best choice if growing Vegetables.

Lean to Greenhouse - This design is best used with limited space and if there is a wall that they can be built up against (a south facing wall is preferred for the best sunlight).
